New research grant awarded by the MRC.

Speed Ultrasound Lab won a new research grant, funded by the Medical Research Council (MRC) to develop new drug delivery technology to the brain. The problem with cancer drugs, or chemotherapy in general, is that drugs kill the health tissue along with the tumour. Our technology, which is a combination of microwaves and ultrasound, will be able to activate the cancer drugs on demand, only at desired locations inside the brain to minimize the collateral damage.

A total of £155.9k is awarded for this research project ‘Enhancing Blood-Brain Barrier Opening with Ultrasound and Microwaves for Targeted Drug Delivery’.
